SAPCC

The Scottish Association for Pastoral Care and Counselling offers a forum for a wide diversity of carers and counsellors to meet and network.

Mission Statement:    
To promote and develop Pastoral Care and Pastoral Counselling;
To provide a forum for mutual learning and support.
Faith traditions and spiritual experiences are central to our shared commitment respecting the uniqueness of each person.

 

1.  We will strive to make real in our dealings with one another the philosophy and values in our present Mission Statement.

2.  We are committed as an Association to an on-going review and evaluation of our Mission Statement.

3.  The Association ‘Council' exists to help members respond to the aims and goals emerging from our Mission Statement.

4.  The Council has between five and ten members elected for up to five years by the AGM, and the Council has the power of co-option for specific reasons. Members may seek re-election after one year of absence from the council.

5.  The officers shall be:

  • Chair, appointed by the Council from its own members
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Communications co-ordinator
  • Minute secretary.
Officers may serve for the full term of their membership of council and may be elected to office if re-appointed to council.

6.  The Council should aim to include a reasonable representation of both sexes.

7.  The Council should include a reasonable mix of denominations.

8.  The Council shall meet as and when required to carry out its duties among which are:

  • Organize an Annual Conference.
  • Convene the Annual General Meeting.
  • Maintain the website at regular intervals.
  • Maintain appropriate contacts with other relevant groups.
  • Organize appropriate events as it decides
  • Stimulate regional activities to promote the aims.
  • Represent the aims of the association in the public domain.


9.  The future aspirations of SAPCC include:

  • Developing codes of good practice and ethical standards, in pastoral care and pastoral counselling.
  • Promoting the practice of supervision for pastoral care and pastoral counselling.

10.  Membership of the Association is open to all engaged in either pastoral care or pastoral counselling at whatever level, and who subscribe to the Mission Statement.

11.  Application for membership is open to anyone concerned with the practice of pastoral care or pastoral counselling at whatever level, paying the appropriate subscription which is set annually by the Council and approved at the AGM.
